About Me
My name is Alyson Scarborough, and I am the founder of Nosyla by Alyson. Based in Tulsa, Nosyla by Alyson specializes in fantasy-inspired gowns, historical costume design, and custom garment construction. As a graduate of the Oklahoma State University Apparel Design program, I combine artistic storytelling with technical craftsmanship to create garments that are both theatrical and wearable.
The idea of Nosyla by Alyson began in 2015, inspired by the elaborate gowns showcased at the Carnival of Venice. Drawing on historical fashion, masquerade aesthetics, bold silhouettes, and fantasy elements, I established a brand dedicated to storytelling, meticulous craftsmanship, and transforming clothing into wearable art.
My passion for fashion began in childhood, when I created outfits for my dolls using fabric scraps and household materials. Even before learning to sew, I found joy in transforming fabric into creative and expressive designs.
My family encouraged me to attend sewing camps at a local sewing machine dealership, which ignited my interest in sewing. Over 4 consecutive camps, I learned the fundamentals of machine operation, pattern reading, and garment construction. During this time, I met my late mentor, who played a pivotal role in my development as a designer. Under her guidance, I acquired skills in pattern drafting, garment construction, costume creation, couture sewing techniques, and developed the patience, creativity, and confidence essential to the craft.
After losing my mentor to COVID in 2020, I became determined to continue growing the skills she instilled in me. I attended Oklahoma State University, where I enhanced my abilities through industry-standard courses in design, garment construction, and couture finishing. Learning from professors and peers, I refined my personal style and narrative approach. My work is inspired by masquerades, historical costuming, and dramatic silhouettes, blending timeless elegance with contemporary craftsmanship.
My goal is to establish a brand recognized for exceptional craftsmanship, immersive design, and couture-level storytelling, enabling clients to experience transformation through my creations.
